Standing on the other side of the gate was a man with a Chihuahua. Immediately we saw Security rushing to the restaurant. It was close to 4:30pm when we got in the buffet line. (This typically means that my diabetic husband needs to eat.) So, I insisted we get in the line. It was an expensive buffet and I was not very hungry.Ībout 15 minutes later, my husband told me he was feeling anxious. When we got to the line, I asked if we could play a bit longer before we ate. We did play for about an hour when my husband decided that he wanted to eat at the Lobster Buffet.

We thought we would play a bit and have dinner so that we would wait out the traffic we were expecting. The prices were a fraction of the high end steak houses in other gambling facilities and the service was attentive but not intrusive. I also ate dinner in the Boomtown steak house which was excellent - the filet mignon just the right size and cooked perfectly to my liking. It was clean, not smoky and well stocked with hundreds of top end and new slot machines (my favorite). I was really surprised when I got inside and found how nice the place was (you couldn't really tell from a quick drive-by). I often drove by Boomtown on the way into the city but this time decided to stop there for a change from the glitter and noise of downtown. I visit Reno two or three times a year and usually stay and gamble in one of the large hotel/casinos in or near downtown.
